TRAFFIC ADVISORY: North Main Street & Putnam Avenue
The Village of Port Chester is mitigating a failure of its pump station located within the William James Memorial Gateway Park.
Temporary pumping equipment and hoses will be stationed along North Main Street and Putnam Avenue this afternoon and throughout the overnight hours. Residents are warned that most of the street intersections in this area of Port Chester will be constricted or remain closed completely.
Residents should expect traffic delays when traveling down Putnam Avenue towards Willett Avenue and beyond.
Accessing Greenwich, Connecticut via North Main Street will be severely limited if not closed completely for safety. Motorists are encouraged to utilize alternate travel routes to access Greenwich, Connecticut and avoid traveling beyond northbound on North Main Street to do so. Utilizing Mill Street remains an option.
Traffic backups and congestion is likely.
The village is working diligently to rectify the issue as quickly as possible. Your patience, attention, and cooperation is vital at this time.
All should remain mindful of village DPW employees and police officers in the roads who will be working and helping direct traffic throughout the evening.
