The Village of Port Chester continues to monitor the pending storm event predicted to impact our area tonight through tomorrow, Tuesday March 14th.
Latest weather reports indicate that we should prepare to see 2 inches to 6 inches of heavy, wet snow fall in our area beginning at 10 PM this evening. Although we may see lulls in the precipitation after 6 AM Tuesday, snow will continue to fall through most of the day towards these totals. Overnight hours may also give way for coastal flooding during high tide hours with a possibility of tides reaching 1 to 2-feet above normal levels.
Precipitation will cause for very difficult driving conditions in and around the village. Residents are always encouraged to stay off the roads as much as possible during any snow event to ensure that roads remain clear for emergency services and first responders. Keeping any and all snow on your own property rather than shoveling or plowing snow into the street is always a big help for our crews as they work tirelessly to clear our streets.
The type of snow predicted during this storm may impact both powerlines and trees, cause for losses of power and falling limbs. If you experience an outage of any kind, you can contact Con Edison to report a loss of power or to get updated information on an outage repair by dialing 1-800-752-6633.
Weather reports can change at any time. Village offices will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates in subsequent advisories when necessary- especially if there is an adjustment made in department services or a need to communicate emergency information. Residents are asked to do their best to remain home for the safety of themselves and their neighbors.
If you have need to report a down wire or tree, or need EMERGENCY assistance, please dial 911
Thank you for your attention and cooperation,
The Village of Port Chester
